Hi, again! I know I’ve been M.I.A. But if you don’t know, I’m an elementary school teacher currently teaching a combined 1st and 2nd grade class (and a single mom of 2 going into the 3rd and 4th grades). That means within the past month or so, I’ve been prepping for back-to-school for both the kids and my classroom kids. That being said, even though I’ve had the desire to write I’ve had to put it on the back burner in exchange for more pressing matters. The first week is usually the most challenging so with it approaching its close, I hope to share some more writing with you sooner rather than later. During the process of my prep, I was trying to locate something (I don’t even remember what I was looking for) but ended up finding something I didn’t know I was looking for. I ended up unearthing my poetry submissions from back when I was in high school that are in my school district’s poetry anthologies. I believe in the saying that everything happens for a reason. We may not be aware of what the “why” is right then and there but eventually the pieces of the puzzle come together. Let’s say that part of the “why” of finding my old pieces was to be reminded of who I was at the time and recognize the growth in who I am today. So, while I’m waiting for the next opportunity to write, I leave you with this as a consolation. Here’s a poem birthed from my freshman mind. Keep an eye out for others.

Bonus:
Read about the history of the photograph
Take a listen to what felt like the soundtrack of my life especially during my teenage years as it’s also fitting for this post:
When she was just a girl
She expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
So she ran away in her sleepAnd dreamed of para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise
Every time she closed her eyes
I love getting a glimpse into your younger mind. Thank you for sharing!
